Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study was to determine possible genotoxic effects of esmeron, which is used as an anesthesia agent in general anesthesia, by using sister chromatid exchange (SCEs), chromosome aberration (CAs) and micronucleus (MN) tests in human peripheral lymphocytes. In the present study, the human peripheral lymphocytes were treated with three concentrations of esmeron (60, 80, 100 µg/ml) for 24 and 48 hours treatment periods. Esmeron increased the frequency of CAs but did not increase the frequency of SCEs. Esmeron didn?t decrease the proliferation index (PI) and mitotic index (MI). And also esmeron stimulated the frequency of MN however, did not decrease the nuclear division index (NDI).
