Abstract (EN)

Meat and meat products is one of the most important nutritious products to meet nourishmentof human beings. By improvement of the sector, integrated meat industry had moreresponsibility to the environment. In this study, integrated meat industry is introduced and raw wastewater characteristicscaused by industry and treatment alternatives are mentioned. Besides, raw wastewatercharacteristics and treatment processes of three companies that are settled down inIstanbul and working in area of integrated meat industry are researched.Removal efficiencies of these treatment plants that are run with biological activatedsludge principle exceeded %90 rate in average and we have seen that they have completedthe standards for discarge to sewerage.Another finding of this study is reusing of purified water for fields that have nottouch with products like animals house, sewage pipes of rearing unit etc. and forirrigating land causes significant saving in cost. And the operation cost of a treatmentplant for daily or for a unit of item is another finding of this research. Keywords: (meat integrated industry, wastewater, biological treatment, recuperation, activated sludge, removal efficiency, reusing, closed waste water systems)xii
