Abstract (EN)
Nowadays, internal combustion engines (ICE) have become a necessity for daily necessities. However fossil fuels used in internal combustion engines are about to run out. Especially after the petroleum crisis in 70's, studies towards fuel consumption have accelerated and fuel consumption is improved on a large scale. Today researchers have been focused on emission values of internal combustion engines as well as fuel consumption. One of the research area about internal combustion engines is homogeneous charge compression ignition called HCCI. In this study, a single cylinder diesel engine has been used and the engine has been converted as a partial homogeneous charge compression ignition engine. First, in the experimental study, the characteristic curves of the engine have been determined with diesel fuel with full load tests. By way of curves obtained from experiments, a high and a low rotation value have been determined for partial load tests. With the selected rotation values, partial load tests were carried out with diesel fuel. Then a partial homogeneous charging was applied for the same two cycles. In the case of partial homogeneous charging, the engine performance and fuel consumption changes were investigated by spraying ethanol at 10%, 20%, 30% in the suction port. The aim of this study is to try to shed light on the development of homogeneous charged compression ignition engines.
