Evaluation of the heroes in The Turkish course books of the 5th-8th grade in terms of ethical behaviors

In this study, 5-8. by evaluating the heroes in the textbooks of the classroom Turkish textbooks in terms of ethical behavior, revealing what effects these heroes have on students, it is aimed to investigate whether they contribute to their devolepment in social areas. Type analyzes, ethical values analiysis of heroes in the texts were made and teachers opinions were included. In this study, which was organized according to the qualitative research method, semi-structured interview and document analysis were used as data collection tool. Turkish textbooks of 5th class Eksen, 6th garade Millî Eğitim Bakanlığı, 7th grade Dersdestek, 8th grade Millî Eğitim Bakanlığı Publications were used as documents. A semi-structured interwiew form was used to determine teachers thoughts about the texts in Turkish text books and the heroes included in the texts, and interviews were conducted with Turkish teachers. Findings obtained during the study were noted, fiches were made, tables were created and prepared tables were interpreted. According to the findings found in type tests, heroes are generally positive types. It is understood that the behavior of the negative types isn't suitable for social values. It is concluded that the heroes are generally in accordance with ethical values. It has been determined that some values are more prominent and some values are ignored. It has been concluded that values in heroes are found in texts with positive behaviors, teachers find hero behaviors in texts in accordance with ethical values, and they think that they are insufficient in influencing student behaviors.
