Abstract (EN)

Liver damage and oxidative stress levels were evaluated as a result of consuming high antioxidant capacity of eugenol alone and with oxidative stress agent (ethyl alcohol). In this study, 40 Wistar albino female rats weighing approximately 310-390g were used. The rats were randomly divided into 4 groups of 10 and were fed ad libitum with standard pellet. Group 1 (Control group), 3ml / Sf / day / gavage to create the same stress as the other groups, Group 2 (Ethyl alcohol group), 40% Ethyl alcohol 3ml / day / gavage, Group 3 (Eugenol) group), 50mg / kg / day / gavage, Group 4 (Ethyl alcohol + Eugenol group), 40% Ethyl alcohol + 50mg / kg eugenol 3ml / day / gavage was given for 30 days. At the end of the study, biochemical, histopathological and immunohistological analyzes were performed on blood, liver and kidney tissue from rats. When eugenol was consumed together with ethyl alcohol, it was determined that significantly reduced the hepatotoxicity on liver that induced by ethanol. There was a statistically significant difference in AST, ALT, ALP, LDH and TRIG levels between the control and experimental groups (<0.05). No significant difference was found between the groups in BILD, BILT and CHOL levels (<0.05). In caspase 3 immunohistochemical staining, cytoplasmic staining occurred in almost all of the liver and kidney tissues. Cytoplasmic staining was not observed in some preparations of the liver control group. Eugenol prevented oxidant-antioxidant balance from changing with ethanol and oxidants in favor. Key Words: Antioxidant enzymes, Ethanol, Liver, Caspase-3, Eugenol
