Özet (EN)
Nowadays, gender issues are one of the areas that can be discovered worldwide. Gender problems and experiences can be experienced in different places and conditions, including employment. Gender issues are a historical issue. These problems are transferred from old generations to new generations around the world, and their traces go back thousands of years. Thus, when human communities begin to adopt a settled life, the male-dominated social structure and the state built on it are the underlying bases of gender inequality. This research is designed to identify who suffers from inequality by investigating the gender experiences of the employee working in some selected public institutions of the Harari Regional State, especially women working conditions. As a matter of fact, this qualitative research analyzed semi-structured interview questions and documents in institutions with 20 men and 20 women working in four selected public institutions (Harari Audit Bureau, Education Bureau, Public Service Bureau, and Harari Women, Children and Youth Office). In organizations that are considered as analysis units, female employees are exposed to inequality and violence due to gender-oriented attitudes and patriarchial thoughts, although they are low in most of the higher levels. In addition to this, gender experience based on ethnicity, religion, education and economy in the workplace leads to othering and mobbing, which not only indicates male-female differences but also female-female differences.
