Abstract (EN)

I n recent years, ethnic entrepreneurship is one of the areas attracting most interest in entrepreneurial research literature. The efforts, circumstances and motivation effecting different ethnic groups who have settled in a foreign country in their attempts to set up and run their own businesses are unquestionably very different. There are many different institutional viewpoints on this subject and it is thought that these will become stronger in the future. T his thesis is based on research carried out on Turkish entrepreneurs, one of the best examples of ethnic entrepreneurship. According to the findings of research carried out on 65 Turkish entrepreneurs doing business in the city of Frankfurt (Main), the factors that encourage entrepreneurs to start their own business are as follows; firstly, individual motivation, secondly, ethnic reasons and thirdly the circumstances in Germany. This result shows that Waldinger?s ?interactive model?, which is based on interaction between different factors effecting ethnic entrepreneurship could be more illustrative. The many variables included in this model provide a substantial backdrop for more comprehensive and comparative research to be carried out on ethnic entrepreneurship in the future.
