Abstract (EN)

In our thesis, we endeavored to examine the body of work of Chomsky, who introduced the terms of linguistic universals and the notion of generative grammar into the field of linguistics and the perspectives, as well as the perspectives of Pinker who approaches language in the context of cognitive science, in order to evaluate the continuity between them. We drew conclusions about similarities and differences in their perspectives. We examined the linguistic theory of Chomsky, considered revolutionary in the linguistic field. We have seen how the Chomskyan linguistic theory influences linguistic studies even cognitive studies nowadays. Thus, we demonstrated how Pinker, inspired of the Chomsky's views on linguistic conception, strived to support his point of view, in the light of his research on the human language instinct. We have seen that, according to Pinker, there are innate modules in the human brain and this idea is supported by cognitive science studies. We have learned that, in order to better understand the characteristics of the human mind, it is very important to examine the particularities of languages.
