Abstract (EN)
Sales staff today, is among the preferred occupations as it provides work space in different sectors and opportunity for one to one communication. It is a business segment with a high rate in total employment. The need of sale of everything produced makes it necessary for the number and rate of the sales people to be large. The textile sector, due to the variety of areas in it, provides the sales people a large area of employment. Home textile sector, one of the significant branches of the textile sector, has rapidly developed in line with the growth in the garment industry; and has become a highly large market both in our country and worldwide especially recently. Turkey, becoming one of the important actors in the sector of home textile worldwide, has reached a strong position to fight competitors. In the competition, the importance of the sales people working in the sector of home textile is indisputable. It is considered as an expected situation that the employers have expectations from the sales people in order to be able to survive in the competitive environment.Within the scope of the research, the qualifications, expectations and the problems they face in their workplaces have been addressed and investigated. The expectations of the employers have been identified. The samples of the research have been selected as Ankara, Adana, Kayseri, İstanbul, Denizli and Bursa by considering the cities in which the most job notices in the sales department of the textile sector were published and by regarding the rates of 500 companies, employing the most employees, in reference to cities, in Turkey. The data of the research have been obtained through the questionnaires performed among 158 sales people working in home textile companies and 64 employers. In this research on determining general specifications of the sales people and the expectations of the employers from the sales people, percentage rates, frequency values, Anova test-analysis of one-way variance- and Sheffee analysis have been conducted to achieve results. According to the analysis, it is concluded that the age and experience of the sales people has an inversely proportional no significant relationship with the problems they face. As the age and experience of them increased, the problems they face decreased. It can be said that the education levels and income have an inversely proportional no significant relationship with the problems they face. As the education levels and income of them increased, the problems they face decreased. The fact that the average age is under 30 explains that their experience is inadequate and their education levels are low. The expectations of the employers from the sales people have been identified as good communication with the customers, fulfill the expected performance, bringing in loyal customers, providing alternative products, being friendly and dynamic, and giving attention to physical appearance. It is concluded that there is no significant relationship between the age, education level, income and the experience and expectations of the sales people.
