Utilization of home type water treatment systems and determination of public perception on clean water

It is known that clean water resources are decreasing day by day, and with rapid population growth, people are interested in both clean drinking and handling water. Although the readymade water that people use is of high quality in general, people are losing confidence in this issue. On the other hand, it is almost impossible not to encounter the cases of disease that arise from usage of fountain water. Because of the limited access to clean drinking and handling water, people turn to other sources. Methods for obtaining fresh water from salty water, reverse osmosis systems, increasing interest both in household water treatment devices and in natural spring water are the main considerations of different market seeking. With the questionnaire applied within the scope of our present thesis study, we analyse the public perception of water in certain regions within the Antalya Province. Number of participants is N=300, and, the questionnaire is distributed individually and by email. The results are analyzed by SPSS. According to results, 80 % percent of participants are worried about the fact that they will have a shortage of clean water in the future. It is also found that participants have serious problems with the usage of tap water and water cooler bottles. On the other hand, increased interest in water treatment systems is determined. Especially those who have information on this subject, use their home water treatment systems safely in their homes, apartments and work places. Participants are aware of the problems related to clean water and the problems that this situation will cause in the near future. In this study, some of proposed solutions are examined, and, public's awareness of clean water is measured. It is thought that this work will contribute to the national and international literature.
