Abstract (EN)

This thesis aims to examine the hypotheses of eidos and metheksis of the young Socrates in the context of the argument that Zeno shows that «there is no multiplicity». The young Socrates' objection to Zeno's argument and the solution proposed to this argument constituted the first chapter of the thesis. At this point, Socrates posited the assumptions of eidos and metheksis. In the second chapter, where the interrogations of Parmenides begin, the hypothesis of eidos of Parmenides is first treated in terms of the determination (diorizô) of eidos as itself (auto kath' hauto). In this chapter, eidos is discussed in the context of being one (hen) and many (polla) and the impossibilities are shown. In the third chapter, we discuss the impossibilities that can arise when eidos is accepted as the common (koinon). In the fourth chapter, if eidos is placed in the soul (psukhê) and accepted as noêma, the resulting impossibilities will be discussed. In the fifth chapter, Socrates' proposal to pose eidos in nature (fusis) and accept it as a paradeigma is discussed and impossibilities are shown in the face of these difficulties. After the discussion on the impossibility of determination eidos by itself (diorizô), in the sixth chapter, the results emphasized by Parmenides of the determination of eidos in terms of other (aforizô) are discussed and the resulting impossibilities will be revealed.
