Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, it was aimed to isolate bacteria from urine samples of women, to determine the antibiotic resistance status of isolates, and to determine the inhibitory activity of zinc oxide nanoparticles. In the study, bacteria were isolated in urine samples taken from 257 women in total between January 2021 and April 2022 in Tikrit Training Hospital (TTH), Iraq. 91 samples were isolated from 257 female urine samples. E. coli (35.41%) was most frequently isolated, followed by Enterobacter spp. (14.79%), Staphylococcus spp. (15.18%), Enterococcus spp. (13.62%), Klebsiella spp. (14.01%), Proteus spp. (3.11%) and Citrobacter spp. (3.89%) followed. According to the antimicrobial susceptibility test results of E. coli, the most common etiologic agent of UTI, Cloxacillin (72.53%), Amoxicillin (65.93%), Cephalexin (49.45%), Ampicillin (41.76%), Cotrimoxazole (38.46%), while Ciprofloxacin (94.51%), Cefexim (84.62%) and Cotrimoxazole (56.04%) resistance rates were determined. When MİK and MBK of ZnO nanoparticles against E. coli were examined, MİK values were determined between 0.064 and 0.236 ppm, and MBK values between 0.1042 and 0.7292 ppm according to 3 different doses applied.
