Özet (EN)

Turkey is located in the Alp-Himalaya earthquake belt, which is one of the most active regions in term of earthquake risk in the world. The most parts of the Turkey are located in earthquake zones, and a large part of the population live in these regions. In other words, Turkey is constantly in danger of earthquakes. Turkey has experienced many earthquakes throughout the history. Our material and moral losses have been huge. The solution is unique. We have no choice other than to build an earthquake resistant structure. Investigation of the existing reinforced concrete building stock in Turkey and earthquakes showed us; concrete compressive strength is generally lower than today's earthquake regulations, transverse and longitudinal reinforcements do not meet the requirements of today's earthquake regulations. As a result of this, buildings have failed to resist against the forces that occur during the earthquake. Structures need to be strengthened in order not to encounter this kind of negativity during an earthquake. Different methods have been developed for this. In this study, information about the strengthening of an existing structure and different strengthening methods are given. In addition, it was understood that the strengthening of structures need performance analysis against earthquake on a sample project and should be strengthened by different methods. Analyzes and results were made presented. The methods used were also examined in terms of cost.
