Abstract (EN)

Eviscerationsurgery is currentlyperformedwiththe implant placementtechnique in thesamesession. Althoughresearch on the ideal intraocular implant continues in ophthalmologypracticewiththedevelopingtechnology, variouseffectsoccur on eyestructuresduetothenature of theapplication. Ouraim in thisstudy is toexaminethebloodflowandanatomicaldimensions of theeyetissuesaftereviscerationsurgery in which mesh is placed as an implant. Inourstudy, 13 eyes of 13 patientswitheviscerationindicationandoperatedwith mesh and 13 healthyeyes of 13 age-sexmatchedvolunteerswereincluded. Eviscerationsurgerywithcornealexcision mesh implant placedwasappliedtothecases in theeviscerationgroup. MagneticResonance (MR) andColor Doppler Ultrasonography (RDUS) examinations of thecontrast-enhanced orbit wereperformed in allcases in thefirstmonth. At theend of thefollow-up, a significantdifferencewasobserved in themedialrectusdiameter (MRD) andverticaldistance of theopticnervehead (ONV) values in the MR imaging of thecaseswhounderwentevisceration, but nodifferencewasobserved in otherparameters. Inthesamegroup, whentheresults of RDUS wereexamined in general, bloodflowwasobserved in onlyonepatient, whilebloodflowwas not detected in ourotherpatients, especiallyaroundthe mesh. Accordingtothecurrentresults, therewasnosignificantdifference in MR imagingwithhealthyeyesaftereviscerationsurgery. Ourresultsneedto be investigatedandconfirmedwithdifferentpatientgroups in largepopulations.
