The relationship between sexual myths, marital satisfaction and sexual functions in married individuals

In this study, it was aimed to determine whether there is a statistically significant relationship between sexual myths and spousal satisfaction and sexual functions in married individuals. For this purpose, between November 2017 and February, 2018, 133 women and 112 men from married individuals participated in the method of sampling using convenience sampling techniques and a total of 250 people were included. Attendance form, socio-demographic data form and Golombok-Rust Sexual Satisfaction Scale, Sexual Myths Scale, Golombok-Rust Inventory of Marital State were applied and the relationships between sexual myths and spousal satisfaction and sexual functions of the data obtained from these scales were tried to be revealed. According to the findings obtained from the study, a significant relationship was found between sexual myths and sexual functions in men but not in women. There was significant relationships between sexual myths and marital satisfaction in all participants. According to regression analysis, it was shown that sexual myths have negative effects on male sexual functions. In addition, sexual myths have negative effect on marriage satisfaction in both males and females.
