The mediating role of relationship satisfaction in the relationship between relationship obsessive-compulsive disorder and infidelity tendency in married couples

This study aims to examine the mediating role of relationship satisfaction in the relationship between relationship centred obsessive compulsive symptoms and infidelity tendency in married people and the mediating role of satisfaction in the relationship between partner focused obsessive compulsive symptoms and infidelity tendency in married people. The sample of the study consisted of 167 married individuals, 110 of whom were female and 57 of whom were male, aged between 21 and 66. Demographic Information Form, Relationship Obsessive Compulsive Inventory, Partner Related Obsessive Compulsive Symptom Inventory, Infidelity Tendency Inventory and Relationship Assesment Scale were applied to the participants respectively. The mediation analyses revealed that relationship satisfaction played a full mediating role in the relationship between relationship centred obsessive compulsive symptoms and infidelity tendency, and relationship satisfaction played a full mediating role in the relationship between partner focused obsessive compulsive symptoms and infidelity tendency. The findings of the study were discussed in the light of the literature.
