Abstract (EN)

In this study, the impact of marital individuals' levels of cognitive flexibility and life positions on marital adjustment was examined. The marital adjustment, cognitive flexibility levels, and life positions of the participants were examined according to some demographic variables. The study group consisted of 396 married individuals. In the data collection process, the Revised Dyadic Adjustment Scale, Cognitive Flexibility Scale, Life Positions Scale, and a personal information form were utilized. Correlation tests and regression analysis were employed to determine the relationship between variables. T-tests, ANOVA, and Kruskal-Wallis tests were used for comparisons according to demographic variables. The analysis revealed that individuals' marital adjustments varied according to gender, age, socioeconomic levels, duration of marriage, number of children, employment status, frequency of conflict, and preferred communication style. A positive relationship was found between individuals' levels of cognitive flexibility and marital adjustment, as well as between the "I'm OK, You're OK" sub-dimension and marital adjustment, while a negative relationship was found with the "I'm not OK, You're not OK" sub-dimension. Regression analysis further indicated that the Life Positions Scale was a significant predictor of marital adjustment, particularly for the "I'm OK, You're OK" and "I'm not OK, You're not OK" sub-dimensions.
