Abstract (EN)

In this study, conflict situations and locus of control and personality traits of married individuals are examined in terms of some psycho-social variables (gender, age, educational status, working status, age of marriage, marriage year, number of children, family monthly income level and life satisfaction). The research population is married individuals living in Izmir. The study group consisted of 363 people who were reached through the appropriate sampling method among the married individuals living in İzmir as of November 2017. To protect the confidentiality in marriage, it has been ensured that individuals in the research was participated voluantarly. In the study, descriptive-relational screening method which is a research approach aiming to describe a situation that existed in the past or the present state as it exists "was used (Karasar, 2005: 77). The data were collected by the researchers using the Personal Information Form and the in Marriage Conflict Scale (MCS), and the Rotter's Internal - External Locus of Control Scale (RIELCS) -which is the most widely used tool for the measurement of the degree of intrinsicity and externality- and the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire's Overified Shortened Form. SPSS 11.0 package program was used to analyze the data. Hierarchical regression analysis, correlation and chi-square test were used in the study. Cross tables have also been created for demographic variables. The reliability of the scales (cronbach) was made and the scale variables were formed by factor analysis. Results: From the sociodemographic variables, there were no significant relationship found with the conflict frequency, and the gender, marital year , occupation, marriage age, education level, having a children, number of children and family monthly income, but age. There is a relationship between life satisfaction and conflict frequency and locus of control. Conflict frequency variable is a dependent variable in the study, the neuroticism, extroversion, psychoticism, lie and locus of control is found to be a relationship between the dependent variable. According to the results of four-stage hierarchical regression analysis, it is observed that demographic variables and life satisfaction variable have no effect on conflict frequency variable. On the other hand, it is seen that only the extroversion variable is meaningful in the model from the variables of Neuroticism, Displacement, Psychoticism and Locus of Control obtained from the scales. It is advisable to conduct studies on marriage with a broader group of participants and to ensure that the practice is carried out in the individual's own habitat.
