Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to show the relationship between marital adjustment of married individuals and their characteristics of locus of control and empathy tendency. In addition, the impact of sociodemographic variables such as gender, age, marital status and level of education were investigated in the study. Married employees and their wives who accept to participate were taken from municipality employees in İstanbul. In order to measure the variables, Marriage Compliance Scale, the Rotter Control Scale and the Empathic Tendency Scale, and the Personal Information Form were applied. Kruskal Wallis H, Mann Whitney U and Spearman Correlation Tests were used in the analysis of the obtained data. According to sociodemographic characteristics; it was seen that the average score of marriage adjustment scale of men was higher than the average score of marriage adjustment scale of women, and also and marital adjustment scale of the individuals decreases by both marriage age and marriage duration. As the score of the empathic tendency scale increased, the score of marriage adjustment increased.
