Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this research is to determine the relationship between marital adjustment and personality traits in married life and locus of control.At the same time, there are studies in the literature that these is a relationship between spiritual well-being and marital adjustment.With this study, it is aimed to determine the relationship between marital adjustment and personality traits with spiritual well-being and locus of control with the scale questions applied to married individuals. The scope of this research consists of male and female married individuals aged between 18-65 living in İzmir. Married participants were considered as individuals, not as a couple. When the demographic information of the participants was examined, the data of a total of 526 participants, 283 (53.8%) female and 243 (46.2%) male, were included in terms of gender. Locus of Control Scale developed by Rotter and adapted to Turkish by Dağ(2002), Marital Adjustment Scale developed by Locke and Wallace (1959) and translated into Turkish by Tutarel and Kışlak, Spiritual Well-Being Scale developed by Ekşi and Kardaş (2016), Costa and McCare(1987) in order to measure personality traits developed by Verlmuts and Geris (2005) by selecting 30 of 100 adjectives related to personality traits put forward by Goldberg (1992), with the forms of Quick Big Five Personality Test(HBPT) scales and sociodemographic information form was applied. Spss 22.0 computer program was used for the statistical analysis of the data obtained form the scales. It was observed that the data used in the study were at normally distributed according to the Kolmogorov Smirnov test statistic, and was determined that the normality distribution assumption was met based on the skewness and kurtosis values. Independent Sample T-test and One-way Analysis of Variance( ANOVA) analysis were used for demographic information are given. The findings obtained from the research were discussed in the context of the literature.According to the scores of the participants from the marital adjustment sacele, the marital adjustment of the married individuals was higher than that of the fameles (p<0.05). According to the statistical results examining the relationship between marital adjustment and spiritual well-being, it has been determined that as marital adjustment increases. It has been observed that there is a positive ans significant relationship between marital viii adjustment and five major personality traits. Accordingly, it was concluded that as marital adjustment increased, the scores of the five major personality traits also increased in married individuals. According to results of the study examining the relationship between marital adjustment and locus of control in married individuals, a negative correlation was found between marital adjustment and locus of control. Accordingly it was determined that is locus of control score increased, marital adjustment decreased. It may be useful to conduct other studies examining the relationship between marital adjustment and demographic variables and the relationship between the spiritual well being scale, the rapid big-five personality test and the locus of control scale used in study, and marital adjustments.
