Abstract (EN)

The aim of the study is to examine the relationship between marital satisfaction of fathers and their paternal attachment, and the relationship between its sub-dimensions. The research is applied in three different Family Health Centers in Ankara-Çankaya. The research's sample is consisted of 142 married fathers who are older than 25 and have a 6-12 months baby. Personal Information Form, Father-Infant Attachment Scale and Marital Life Scale were used as data collection tools. SPSS program is used in this research. On the purpose of answering the research questions, the types of data distribution for the tests to be chosen was taken into consideration and in order to answer the research questions, the techniques which are not parametric was utilised since the normality assumption of parametric test techniques failed. Results showed that there is a relationship between marital satisfaction and paternal attachment. According to the results, there is a statistically significant difference between different age ranged participants, according to their patience and tolerance sub-dimensions and father-infant attachment scales. In the light of these information, it is found that there is a relationship between fathers' age and their paternal attachments. Additionally, when mean ranks were examined, it is found that the participants' having 3-4 children had higher score on Marital Life Scale than others having 1-2 child(ren). In conclusion, the relationship between marital satisfaction and paternal attachment, which is the main topic of this research is found statistically significant and by determining a relationship between the notions a new reference is provided to the literature.
