Evaluation on effects of sexual satisfaction on marriage harmony and self respect of married couples

In this research, it was aimed to examine effects of sexual harmony on marriage harmony and self-respect. In this aim, 44 couples (88 participants) randomly selected in February 2015-May 2015 period in İstanbul City Bakırköy, Şişli and Kadıköy Provinces were subjected to a survey including Golombok-Rust Sexual Satisfaction Scale, Marriage Satisfaction Scale and Rosenberg Self-Respect Scales, and relationship between sexual harmony, marriage harmony and self respect were enlightened. According to results of the study, there were not statistically significant differences between sexual satisfaction, marriage harmony and self respect levels of couples based on age, occupation, monthly income, marriage duration, marriage gradation, family therapy history and having a child (p>0,05). On the other hand, there were statistically significant differences of sexual satisfaction and self respect levels of couples except marriage harmony based on gender (p<0,05). According to results of correlation analysis, there was negative correlation between self respect and marriage harmony; and positive correlation between marriage harmony, self respect and sexual satisfaction levels (p<0,001). Thus, it may be argued that sexual satisfaction positively affects self respect and marriage harmony. Key Words : Sexual satisfaction; Marriage harmony; Self respect.
