Evaluation of educators' views on the effects of premarital education on marriage

After problems arise and become complex in marriage, it becomes difficult to solve them. Considering the social and economic costs of marital problems and divorce, it is necessary to establish protective and preventive policies for the family. "Premarital education" is seen as one of the leading solutions to problems in marriage. When we look at the history of premarital education, the significant increase in divorce rates in many countries, especially in developed countries, drew attention to the institution of marriage and family. The need for the institution of the family has brought on the agenda to conduct studies to strengthen marriages and to make legal arrangements for participation in premarital education. In Türkiye, the Ministry of Family and Social Services carries out comprehensive studies on premarital education. The participants of this research are the trainers who have certificates of family trainer and are working in the Ministry of Family and Social Services. Within the scope of the thesis, interviews were held with 52 trainers working in Ankara, Istanbul, Diyarbakır and Konya provinces. Since there are few scientific studies about premarital education in Türkiye, it is aimed to contribute to the scientific literature with this research. The goal of this research is to investigate the necessity of premarital education from the perspective of educators and to put forward studies and suggestions regarding the content, implementation and dissemination of these trainings.
