Such technological films, which are under the cultural influence of the society, are among the important genres that shape the society. The question of whether this situation affects the society in a good or bad way comes to mind. In this study, it is also discussed how the movie Ex Machina, in which technological developments are intense, affects people. Ex Machina film Marshall McLuhan's theory of technological determinism and Michel Foucault's theory of surveillance society were analyzed with the semiotic analysis method in line with the French Linguist Roland Barthes' concepts of denotation and connotation.
