Özet (EN)

The aim of this study is to analyse the visualisation process of 7th grade students while they are solving geometric problems. This study was applied to 50 students in 2016-2017 Academic Year in order to find an answer to the question "How is the visualisation process of 7th grade students while solving geometric problems?". These students were chosen randomlı among five different secondary school students that their success level is good and medium-level. To view the visualisation process of the students in the research, firstly, a work sheet was prepared in the direction of an expert's opinion and also, appropriate for learning outcomes of national education, and then this worksheet was used. Later, in this study, interview technique, one of qualitative research methods, was used to search the visualisation process of 7th grade students in detail, and to analyse students' attitudes. According to the results of the study, students have much more difficulty in visual problem solving than solving of verbal problems visually. As well as, they are better at indimensional problems than interdimensional problems. When the solutions of the problems that require visualisation are analysed, the steps stated in a successful visualisation process are looking and seeing, perceive, integration, interpretation and analysis. Towards upper steps, we see that success of the students decreases. When the visualisation process of geometric problems are analysed, the most difficult step is the third step-interpretation-. The content of interpretation is divided into three categories; 1) using of fundamental level features, 2) Meronymy, and 3) Association. When we wxamine the parts that the students have difficulty in at the visualisation process, as a result, we reach that they have mostly difficulty in interpretation step. In the interviews which were made with the students, most of them fail by explaining while solving and by expressing the solution. And also, examples of intuitivism approach which block logical reasons have been found.
