Examining the relationship between adolescents' attitudes towards digital technology and their healthy lifestyle beliefs

Aim: This research aims to examine the relationship between adolescents' attitudes towards technology and healthy lifestyle beliefs. Material and Method: The research was carried out as descriptive and relationship seeker. It was carried out in 5 high schools seleted by lottery among the high schools affiliated to the Directorate of National Education in the Gurpınar district in the city center of Van, between March 2022 and July 2023. 845 adolescents between the ages of 13-19 participated in the study. Data; Personal Information Form was collected using the Healthy Lifestyle Beliefs Scale and Attitudes Towards Digital Technology Scale. The 21.0 package program was used in the analysis of the data SPSS and descriptive statistics, percentage distribution, t-test, Kruskal-Wallis test and correlation analyzes were used in the evaluation. Statistical significance level was adopted as p<0.05. Results: Adolescents' Healthy Lifestyle Beliefs Scale mean score was 39.28±11.33, and the Attitude towards Digital Technology Scale mean score was 131.99±25.90. A significant relationship (r=.259, p= .000) was found between adolescents' attitudes towards digital technology and healthy lifestyle beliefs. Conclusion: In this study, it was determined that the socio-demographic characteristics of the adolescents have a relationship with their Attitudes Towards Digital Technology and Healthy Lifestyle Beliefs. It has been found that as adolescents develop positive attitudes towards digital technology, their beliefs about health behaviors also increase positively.
