Abstract (EN)
The global energy crisis and environmental pollution caused by the consumption of fossil fuels make it necessary to seek alternative energy resources and develop energy-efficient systems. Solar energy is one of the renewable alternative energy resources which is environment-friendly, limitless, economical, and attainable. Systems using solar energy as a heat resource of heat pumps are more efficient. There are three methods for coupling heat pumps with solar collectors: solar thermal assisted heat pumps, photovoltaic powered heat pumps, and photovoltaic/thermal (PV/T) assisted heat pumps. Compared to the former two methods, the combination of PV/T collectors with heat pump is particularly promising since PV/T collectors combine photovoltaic panels and a solar thermal collector into a single integrated collector, and are capable of producing both electrical and thermal energy simultaneously. By using this combination, the heat pump performance and the PV/T efficiency can be improved due to the increase in the evaporating temperature of the heat pump and the decrease in the PV/T panel operating temperature. In addition, the electrical energy generated by the solar collector can be used to drive the compressors and pumps. PV/T assisted solar heat pump systems can be classified according to the typical working fluid in the PV/T collector as: liquid-cooled collector, air-cooled collector, and refrigerant- cooled collector. In this study, a liquid-cooled PV/T assisted heat pump for space heating is experimentally investigated. Based on the results, the effects of the key parameters for each of the PV/T system control methods on the PV/T system energy gain, overall energy consumption, average heat pump coefficient of performance (COP), and the overall system performance were presented. Keywords: PV/T assisted solar heat pump, PV/T solar collector, Performance, Control method.
