F. Nietzsche's critique of G. W. F. Hegel's understanding of history

In this work, Nietzsche's critique of Hegel's understanding of history is examined based on Hegel's idea of "end of history". The thesis consists of three main chapters. In the first chapter, Hegel's understanding of history; the main subject of his conception of history which is the relationship between the progression of history and spirit and the idea of an "end of history" was analyzed. At the same time, the spirit/mind, which is the answer to the question of what he meant by historical progress, in its unfolding process or period, where the idea that reason, historical personalities will realize their will, passion, and desires all by themselves were all discussed. In the second chapter, Nietzsche's understanding of history was studied. Where the factors that affected Nietzsche's understanding of history and therefore how he conceived and discussed history were also analysed. The chapter finally analyses his understanding of history within the context of the emphasis on thoughts of active human and eternal return. In the third chapter, the contradictions between Nietzsche and Hegel's understanding of history and discrepancies were put forth. However, critique of Hegel's historical progress and his idea of "end of history" within the context of Nietzsche's "eternal return" and the idea of active will were extensively discussed. In conclusion, this study aimed at discussing the reason for Nietzsche's critique that Hegel's understanding of history can lead to dangerous consequences, as well as analysing the reflections of Nietzsche's critique in today's world.
