Examination of the relationship between leadership characteristics and empathy levels of active referees

The aim of the study is to determine the relationship between the leadership characteristics and empathy levels of active referees working in some sports branches. The sample of the study consists of 220 referees who are actively working in Antalya and participating in the research voluntarily. The demographic information form developed by the researcher, the empathic tendency scale developed by Dökmen (1988) and the versatile leadership orientation scale developed by Dursun, Yenel, Günay (2019) were used to achieve the aim of the research. The analysis of the obtained data was made with the SPSS package program. The skewness and kurtosis values of the collected data were examined and it was determined that they showed a normal distribution. İn this direction, independent sample t-test was used to detect significant differences in paired groups and one way analysis of variance was used in groups of more than two. The correlation coefficient was used to determine the significance and direction of the relationship between the two concepts. In this study, scanning method was used. The screening method is a descriptive study. This research is in relational screening model. Descriptive survey model was used in the research. According to the results obtained in the research, it was determined that there was a statistically significant difference in the empathic tendency levels of the referees according to the marital status, having another occupation. In leadership orientations, it has been determined that there are statistically significant differences according to gender, marital status, having another occupation , seniority, classification and sober income levels. In addition , ıt was determined that there was a positive and significant relationship between the leadership and empathy levels of the referees participating in the research.
