Özet (EN)

In the study, removal of reactive red (RR) 120, and reactive yellow (RY) 81 which are commonly used dyes in textile industry was investigated by using Spirogyra majuscula in batch system. Different initial pH levels and dye concentrations significantly affected (p<0.01) biosorption of reactive dye on the alga. It was found that optimum initial pH value for removing of reactive dyes was 3. Increasing a contact time and initial dye concentrations increased uptake of dyes by green alga linearly (p<0.01). Kinetics of biosorption behavior was well described by pseudo second-order models. Equilibrium data of reactive dyes were very well described by Langmuir, Freundlich and Redlich-Peterson adsorption models, which had higher correlation coefficient, R², than 0.90. Results confirmed that both reactive dyes were effectively adsorbed dried algal biomass by aleast cost. Consequently, it was observed that S. majuscula undoubtedly has a potential for removing of reactive dyes rapidly and efficiently without excessive cost.
