The main purpose of this study is to investigate the behavior of academics on Facebook environment, by presenting themselves. With this purpose, in Facebook how communication academicians are carried out; however, in this environment in order to understand what kind of behavior, self-presentation academics were interviewed using Facebook, Content analysis was made with the choice of photos which academicians made, however, Wolfram Alpha data were collected by their Facebook pages and the results have been excluded. In addition, in order to understand how students read academicians? profiles were interviewed by Golfman approach.The researcher of this study on the grounds that more appropriate the spirit of the study of qualitative and quantitative research methods, a method used by running to work together, he organized the research quantitative methods to support qualitative methods. Researcher made face to face in-depth interviews with academics in order to answer the research questions, with the interviews of 10 academicians they choose their own profiles with 10 photos, the photo content analysis is applied to a total of 100 photos. With Wolfram Alpha which has many access to quantitative data on Facebook, the data collected by academicians permissions, in the last 7 students from Karadeniz Technical University Faculty of Communication were interviewed face to face by reading Facebook profiles. Qualitative data were analyzed by descriptive analysis, photos were interpreted by content analysis. For the research the main reason for the media's usage by academicians, although was the curiosity at first, it was because of the continuty of communication, academicians have begun to perform daily communications and activities on this environment. As a result of self-presentation of the research academicians to ingratiate themselves with Facebook, introducing themselves as an example and to provide information about their preferred tactics of self-presentation was seen for; Unlike other studies, as well as Facebook itself to protect the environment, they use the tactics of self-presentation. The self-presentation tactics to protect themselves is mostly staying very quiet and making little information about themselves. The academicians whose academic title is high are using the environment by promoting themselves, and academicians whose academic title is low are using this environment by protecting themselves. Academicians show themselves as a part of large community by their photos, Facebook profiles were become a space of academicians daily life. Students have paid more attention to visual themes when reading profiles of academicians, in order to gain an impression of people they firstly look the photos, then look the identity card, and they look the Facebook wall last. Students searched for consistency between the three structures in terms of their point of view formed about the person and when they caught a clear they had negative impression.
