Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to examine the way in which Fahri Celâl Göktulga handles social issues in his stories. Fahri Celâl Göktulga lived between the years 1895-1975, he was listed among the storytellers of the transition period which started with the 2nd. Constitutionalism (1908) and lasted until the end of one-party political life in the Republican period. In this respect, Fahri Celâl Göktulga is among the writers of the National Literature Period. In his works, the author has adopted the narrative approach of that period and reflected these in his works. The author has adopted the Maupassant style story structure. In his stories, he attracted attention with his realism, observation ability, humor and detailed descriptions. In his stories, the descriptions of daily life, traditions and life styles are could be seen as documents of the period. He selected his subjects from everyday life, but focused on the quirks of these subjects, often ending his stories with an unexpected end. In the study, firstly the author's life, his personality, the works he handles are examined, the author's literary understanding and the narrative aspect are examined, and then his stories are analyzed how he handles social issues. Many social topics such as family life, man and woman relations, social problems, economy, education, health and war were covered in his stories. In analyzing these issues, it is concluded that the author does not have any concerns such as drawing attention to problems, giving ideological or political messages and directing criticism when handling social issues. The author chose to descript these issues mostly as a natural part of life. Keywords: Fahri Celâl Goktulga, social issues, short story.
