Abstract (EN)
İngilizce Özet (Abstract) In this thesis study, the heating performance of add-on fan radiators compared to conventional panel radiators in meeting the indoor heating demand was experimentally examined. In the experimental study, a Type-22 PCCP (Panel-Convector-Convector-Panel) panel radiator with dimensions of 600*1000 mm and TBSE (Top Bottom Same End) connection type was used. The fan unit is formed by serially connecting 12 DC (Direct Current) motor driven fans with a diameter of 80 mm. The experiments were started at an indoor temperature of 14°C. In addition, in the experiments, the mass flow rate of water circulating in the panel radiator was kept constant at 0.0278 kg/s. The panel radiator inlet temperature value is determined as 40°C, 45°C and 50°C. In the experiments carried out with add-on fan radiators, the air speed in the upper grille area of the radiator was adjusted to vary between 0.5-2.5 m/s in 0.5 m/s increments. The heat transfer rate by natural convection also decreased significantly and forced convection became more dominant under all fan speed and inlet temperature conditions. Under the condition of 40°C inlet temperature, the heat output from the conventional panel radiator was 337 W, while the total heat output from the add-on fan radiator with the lowest fan speed was approximately 616 W. When the fan speed increased to the maximum level, this value increased to approximately 1200 W. In general, although the heat transfer rates through natural convection and radiation decrease as the fan speed increases, it has been determined that the total heat output from the radiator increases more because this decrease is compensated by forced convection.
