Use of the term "Gateway-passage" in fantasty movies its origin in western myths

Since the ancient times, Humanity have tried to explain itself, the universe and the God, and have narrated these explanations. Myths emerged from the very first answers of archaic questions and they were seen in the artistic Works produced later. Narration of heroism, emerging from Myths and reflecting an ideal person by conveying the process of discovering itself of mankind, has been told in cinematography ant have been able to be frequently seen in fantasy movies, subgenre of cinematography. The journey of the hero of a fantastic movie consists of various stages. Thematic similarities can be seen in formation of these stages. Context of Gateways-Passages can be seen in stages of hero's journey. Gateways-Passages that can be found in every fastasy movies based on hero adventure. They also function structural role in creating the story arc and emerge as an element of fastasticality. Use of gateways-passages in cinematography is similar in mythological texts. This is the evidence of the connection between myths and cinematography. Aim of the study is to analyze the element of gateways-passages in stories complied from three western mythology and movies selected from fastasy movies and to reveal the functions of gateways-passages emerged as a frequently used and recurring structural element in these works. Myths, efforts of defining mythology, functions of myths, the phonemenon of fantasy, fantasy literature and fantassy cinematography have been reviewed in theoretical context of the study. Then, use of passage-gateway is analyzed and interpreted in The Neverending Story (1984), Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone (2001), The Lord of the Rings: The Return of The King (2003), The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005), vi Pan's Labyrinth (2006), Alice in Wonderland (2010) and Jack the Giant Slayer (2013) movies selected with the method of purposive sampling.
