Legitimacy of political power in farabi: Modern republicanism and the perfect state

In our study, in which the relations between the legitimacy propositions of Erdemli Şehir, the unique political fiction of Farabi, one of the important thinkers of Eastern political philosophy, and the legitimacy propositions of the republican tradition will be evaluated; With the results we obtained from the fictions of the republican tradition in Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, Renaissance, modern and contemporary periods and the relationship of these fictions with other traditions encountered in these periods, when we consider Farabi's political fiction in the context of legitimacy designed through virtues, it is aimed to reach some suggestions. It is aimed to express the qualitative but non-democratic equivalent of the concepts of virtues, happiness, sovereignty, common benefit, citizenship, freedom, justice of republicanism in the political structure that Farabi has constructed as Virtuous City, and to determine their similar and different aspects. In both the republican paradigm and the Virtuous City, the virtuous political structure, which demonstrates its legitimacy and is accepted as functioning with the achievement of happiness, which is determined as the final goal, will be evaluated with the perception of freedom, which we have determined an alternative method in the Aristotelian sense, will be examined. Thus, the emergence of the political from need, ensuring the harmony between the parts of the political, and the hierarchical or horizontal value of the legitimacy of the individuals in the political on the way to happiness will be expressed. The common roots of the republican paradigm up to the contemporary period with Farabi's political fiction will be revealed, keeping the metaphysical approach that the republican paradigm left as non-fiction in the contemporary period and the fact that this attitude creates fictional gaps.
