Abstract (EN)

In this study, Chironomidae family larvae Chironomus plumosus, Chironomus anthracinus and Halocladius (H.) fucicola were grown in laboratory environment by feeding with different food (Chlorella vulgaris, Scenedesmus acutus and Saccharomyces cerevisiae). After the life stage of these chironomid larvae were observed, larvae were taken into biochemical processes and vitamin (A, D, E, K), sterol, fatty acid, total protein, glutathione and lipid peroxidation were analyzed. It was determined that the larvae of Chironomidae showed differences in the duration of the development of different nutritional environments with regard to the result of the study. It was observed that successfully completed development of the larvae in all food environments, and duration of the development of larvae groups were longer by feeding with S. cerevisiae. As a result of biochemical analysis, ?-tocopherol (vitamin E) and cholesterol were defined at significant level in all larvae groups (p<0.001). It has been observed that PUFA level is higher than MUFA in all larvae groups. It was defined that the total protein and glutathione was at high level in all larvae groups which were fed with S. cerevisiae, and that lipid peroxidation levels also varied between groups of food and species of Chironomidae.In conclusion, it was identified that Chironomidae larvae grew faster when fed with algal culture, that they showed varities between species and feeding groups according to the results of the biochemical analysis, and that the protein level was higher in the groups fed with S. cerevisiae.Key Words: Chironomidae culture, Chlorella vulgaris, Scenedesmus acutus,Saccharomyces cerevisiae, fatty acid, vitamin, sterol
