Abstract (EN)
Increasing population, industrialization, urbanization and globalization are increasing the demand for electricity. In order to meet these needs, thermal plant have been established in various regions in the world and our country. The resulting chemical energy by combustion of coal and coal-derived fuels in thermal power plants is converted into mechanical energy, and mechanical energy into electrical energy. In coal-fired power plants, many wastes form together with the burning of the coal. These wastes are such as fly ash, bottom ash, slag and flue gas. In our country too, fly ash emanates as waste. This brings about both environmental and economic problems. However, fly ash is a convenient material to be recycled as industrial waste and has evaluation possibilities in different sectors. The construction sector is at the forefront of these sectors. In the construction sector, many areas such as, cement and concrete substitute and additive materials, light aggregate production in aggregates, road stabilization in asphalt and concrete roads, filler material, brick and mudbrick production and insulation material production are used this waste. In this study, fly ash supplied from two different thermal power plants (Seyitomer Thermal Power Plant and Cayirhan Thermal Power Plant) were replaced by clay at different ratios and brick samples were produced by sintering at different temperatures. Physical and mechanical tests (unit volume weight, drying and sintering shrinkage, water absorption, strength tests), color measurements and micro structure analyses were performed on the brick samples.
