Abstract (EN)

Due to rising energy costs and increasing concerns about environmental pollution, it has become very important to accurately estimate the hydrodynamic resistance forces of the boat forms in order to equip the boats with engines with optimum power and to increase their cruising radius accurately. To limit the scope of the highly expensive towing tank experiments being performed for this purpose, and to estimate the resistance of the boat form in a wide speed range and under each loading and sea condition, it has become a practical necessity to achieve those calculations with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analyses. The aim of this thesis is to investigate the resistance results of boats or vessels having different forms by performing HAD analysis on computer using ANSYS Fluent 16.0 software which is to obtain a reliable analysis algorithm comparing the pre-made tensile tank resistance test results. In the second part, considering these results obtained, a three-dimensional model of a boat form was created using the Rhinoceros software whose towing tank test results do not exist before, and resistance estimations of the created form was made using CFD analyses of this form were carried out in ANSYS Fluent 16.0 software. In this way, it will be possible to obtain realistic numerical resistance estimation values of a ship form or a newly designed boat model which has no previous towing tank test results, by performing CFD analyzes under each loading and sea condition in a very wide speed range.
