Metaphoric Analysis of Perceptions of Different Branch Teachers Towards Physical Education and Sports Teachers and Physical Education and Sports Course Introduction and Aim: The aim of this study is to reveal the perceptions of different branch teachers on physical education and sports (P.E.S.) teachers and physical education and sports (P.E.S) course. Material and Method: In this study, one of the qualitative research designs, phenomenology, has been used. The study group consists of 346 teachers working in the high schools of Başakşehir, Avcılar, Küçükçekmece and Esenyurt districts of İstanbul in the 2018-2019 academic year. Research data has been obtained from the completion of the sentences such as; "P.E.S. teacher is like….. Because….." and "P.E.S. course is like …. Because…." The analysis of the data is composed of naming, classification, category development, ensuring validity and reliability and transferring data to computer. Findings and Conclusions: A total of 346 teachers generated 215 different metaphors for P.E,S teachers and 191 for P.E.S. course. In the research, positive metaphors were produced for physical education and sports teachers (336, 97.11%), physical education and sports (338, 97.69%), while negative metaphors were produced for physical education and sports teachers (10, 2.89), (8, 2.31%). According to the number of usage, below are the metaphors used respectively for physical education teachers: friend (9), iron (7), doctor (7), tree (6), sun (6), light (6). Teachers have used the following metaphors for physical education and sports respectively; therapy (23), medicine (18), breathing (16), life (11), water (11). When the conceptual categories belonging to the metaphors generated are examined, teachers have generated metaphors for P.E.S. teachers mostly belonging to the categories below: P.E. teacher as A Health and Peace Source (f=57, %16.47), P.E.S. teacher as a guide (f=46, %13.29), P.E.S. Teacher as An Instructor ( f=41, %11.85). They generated metaphors for P.E.S. course mostly on the following categories: P.E.S. course as a health and peace source (f=148, %42.77), P.E.S. course as an expression of values and emotions (f= 48, %13.87), P.E.S. course in relation with nature (f= 35, %10.12) Keywords: Physical Education and Sports Teacher, Physical Education and Sports Course, Metaphor
