Abstract (EN)

Aim: The aim of this research is to examine the effects of different exercise modalities on immune functions. Material and Method: The population of the research consists of male students studying at the Faculty of Sports Sciences of Inönü University. The sample consisted of 30 male participants who fulfilled the determined inclusion criteria. The participants were randomly assigned to three different groups as YYAE-TV, OYSE and control. The YYAE-TV group performed 8 movements with an intensity of 85-90% of MKAH in 3 sets with 20-second loading and 20-second rest periods. The OYSE group, on the other hand, performed continuous jogging exercise for 30 minutes at an intensity between 65-70% of the MKAH. ACTH and cortisol hormones, IL-6 cytokine, total leukocytes, neutrophils, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils, lymphocytes, CD3+ T-lymphocyte were analyzed on blood samples taken. Mixed design two-way ANOVA test was used to determine the effect of exercise on parameters between groups. The significance level was determined as p<0.05, and the confidence interval was accepted as 95%. Results: YYAE-TV and OYSE groups, a statistically significant difference was found in the time effect, interaction effect (exercise x time) and group effect in the ACTH parameter. Only time effect was statistically significant in total leukocyte, neutrophil, lymphocyte, CD3+ T-lymphocyte, IL-6 and cortisol parameters (p<0.05). Statistically significant difference was observed between the measurement times in total leukocyte and neutrophil parameters together with ACTH and cortisol hormones in the OYSE group (p<0.05). In the YYAE-TV group, a statistically significant difference was found between the measurement times in ACTH, cortisol hormone, IL-6 cytokine and total leukocyte, neutrophil, lymphocyte, CD3+ T-lymphocyte parameters (p<0.05). Conclusion: This study on young, active male participants demonstrates that the YYAE-TV and OYSE modalities have similar effects on immune function.
