Özet (EN)

In this study, the protective role of ellagic acid with antioxidant properties in macro and trace element levels on live tissue exposed to oxidative stress with AlCl3 has been investigated. A total of 24 male rats, divided equally as Control (K), AlCl3 (AL), Ellagic acid (E) and Ellagic acid + AlCl3 (E + AL) groups, were used. Cu, Zn, Fe and Mg elements in rats tissue samples were determined by Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer(F-AAS), Mn and Al were determined by ICP-Atomic Emission Spectrophotometer(ICP-AES).As an important part of this study, the levels of aluminum in the control and other groups were statistically compared. It was found that the level of Al in the AL group was very high (p<0.0001) as compared to K group. Although the Al level in E group was lower, there were no significant difference in Al levels of the K and E groups (p>0.05). The level of Al in AL + E group, was lower as compared to the AL group(p<0.01). Thus, it was obtained that the ellagic acid reduced the level of aluminum by holding it in the metabolism. As a result, it can be concluded that ellagic acid presents a protective effect on protecting the tissues of kidney, testis and lungs, from oxidative stress caused by macro and trace elements.Keyword: Trace Elements, Ellagic Acid, Atomic Absorption Spectrometry, Rat, Kidney, Testis, Lungs
