Abstract (EN)
There is a lot of loss of life and property due to the collapse or major damage of buildings as a result of earthquakes. For this reason, earthquake effects should be taken into consideration in the design of the buildings. The rules that must be followed to ensure that the structures are constructed to be earthquake resistant at a certain level are included in standards and earthquake regulations. As a result of technological developments and knowledge gained from earthquakes, the existing earthquake regulations need to be revised over time. Lastly, the earthquake regulation used in 2007 was revised and entered into force on 1 January 2019. In this study, by assuming the local soil class as Z3-ZD, three different building located in the city center of Van are modeled and analyzed with the equivalent earthquake load method considering the 2007 and 2018 earthquake regulations. As building models; 5-storey frame, 8-storey frame with shear walls and 14-storey frame with shear walls bearing systems were selected. Firstly, the analyzes were performed for the structure having C25 as concrete class in all storeys. The analyzes were also carried out in case the concrete class in the first few storeys is C10 and the concrete class in the other storeys is C25. The results obtained according to the 2007 and 2018 regulations were compared for all building models. As a result, it is concluded that there is an increase in the floor displacements with the earthquake regulation of 2018 and the floor displacements increase as the number of storey assumed with low strength concrete increases.
