Examination of elektroxidation of different coal and lignite in acidic solution

Abstract (EN)

In this study, the effect of adding iron(III) and iron(II) on the electrookxidation of coal-water slurries was also tested. It was found that the presence of iron(III) and iron(II)in the coal slurry significantly increased the average current densities developed in the coal electrolytic cell. Electrolysis experiment was tested with Tunçbilek, Çayırhan, Pittsburg and Dacota. The electrolysis was done at 1 V stable potential at 40C with continuous stirring of coal solutions. The electrochemical behavior of coal ? water slurries was examined with Pt ? Pt metal electrodes. The sampling were made at specific time limits during the experiment for the determinations of Fe(II) and total iron concentrations. The best results for the hydrogen production were obtained from the Tunçbilek ve Pittsburg coals.
