Effect of alternate row spacing on yield and yield components of second crop for silage corn (zea mays L.)

Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out to determine the yield and some quality characteristics of Colonia, AGM1403, PR31Y43 and DKC7240 silage maize varieties grown in Bursa, Karacabey, Mustafakemalpaşa and Aydın Çine locations. In the research, 3 different locations and 4 silage corn varieties were included. The experiment was set up in a randomized block design with 4 replications at each location. A distance of 1 m was left between blocks and parcels. Sowing was done by hand, row spacing was 70 cm and in-row spacing was 15 cm. The parcel is 5 m long and there are 4 rows in each parcel. When the plants reached a height of 30-40 cm, urea (46% N) fertilizer was applied to 20 kg N per decare. When the plants come to the milk production/dough period; Number of Plants, Plant Height, Root / Plant Ratio, Leaf / Stalk Ratio, Yield such as Green Grass and Hay Yield, Water (%), Dry Matter (%), Crude Protein (%), Ingestible Crude Protein (%), Raw Cellulose (%), NDF (Neutral detergent fiber), ADF (Acid detergent fiber) and ADL (Acid detergent lignin) quality parameters were measured. The obtained data were analyzed with the JMP Pro 13 statistical program. As a result of these statistical analyzes, Colonia variety, which showed good performance in terms of green grass yield and hay yield, also showed an average performance in terms of crude protein ratio. Based on these results, it is seen that Colonia variety adapts to the climatic conditions of the region and is a preferable variety in silage corn production for all 3 locations.
