Retrospective evaluation of hematological and biochemical parameters regarding Pre and Post operation of patients undergoing surgery through different metabolic surgery methods

The aim of this study was to physiologically evaluate the laboratory findings in the long term pre and post operation follow-up of the patients who underwent different metabolic surgery methods. The study was conducted retrospectively on 192 patients who had undergone LTB, LMGB + C, LTB + C, LDSGI + C, LSG, LMGB, LREYGB and LNDSGII operations in Istanbul Private Etiler Hospital between January 2015- December 2017. Preoperative and postoperative 1st, 3rd, 6th, 9th and 12th month changes in hematological and biochemical parameters of the patients were evaluated. For statistical significance, p<0.05 was considered significant using Shapiro Wilk Test, Friedman Test, Wilcoxon Test and Posthoc Tamhane's T2 analysis. In our findings, all hematological parameters were found to be within normal reference intervals in preoperative and postoperative periods. In the biochemical parameters, HbA1c, FPG, PPG, Fructosamine, CRP, HDL, LDL, Total Cholesterol and TG parameters and HOMA-IR, IF and IP parameters were above the reference ranges in the preoperative period, but they were found to be significant in the postoperative period and decreased to the reference values at p = 0.000 level. As a result, changes in biochemical and hormonal parameters, generated by the metabolic surgery, were found to be physiologically significant
