Comparison of canal transportation and apically extruded debris following root canal instrumentation with different ni-ti files

Abstract (EN)
This in-vitro study aimed to compare the canal transportation and apically extruded debris following instrumentation with different rotary systems (Reciproc Blue, Twisted File Adaptive, WaveOne Gold and Xp Endo Shaper). Sixty S-shaped canals in resin blocks were included for canal transportation evaluation. The blocks were divided to four equal groups (n=15). Superimposed pre- and post-instrumentation images were obtained. The distance between inner and outer canal walls to enlarged ones were measured on these superimposed images by using digital software. For apically extruded debris evaluation 60 mandibular incisors were selected, then divided to 4 equal groups (n = 15). The teeth were placed in Eppendorf tubes. The specimens were prepared with one of the four different rotary systems. Subsequently, the tubes were incubated at 70 oC for 5 days for drying. The weight of the extruded debris was determined by subtracting the initial weight from the final weight. The groups were compared using Kruskal-Wallis and Dunn multiple tests. In terms of canal transportation in total, there was no significant difference between Xp Endo Shaper-TF Adaptive and Reciproc Blue-WaveOne Gold (p>0.05). However, Xp Endo Shaper and TF Adaptive resulted in significantly less transportation compared to Reciproc Blue and WaveOne Gold (p<0.05). The same pattern was observed also in the apical third. In the assessment of the middle third XP Endo Shaper caused statistically significantly less canal transportations than all other systems (p<0.05). In terms of the apically extruded debris, Xp Endo Shaper resulted in significantly less extrusion compared to other 3 groups (p<0.05). There was no significant difference between the other groups (p>0.05). XP Endo shaper is advantageous regarding both canal transportation and debris extrusion issues.
