Investigation of secondary school students' attitudes towards physical education and sports lessons from different school types: Village-city comparison

In our research, determining the attitudes of students living in city center and rural areas and studying in different types of secondary schools towards physical education and sports lessons; It is aimed to examine the differences between the attitudes of the students towards physical education and sports lessons according to gender, school type, city center and rural area, being in the school team, class level, age groups, parental profession and education level. In our study, the attitudes of secondary school students studying in different school types in Kars city center and the villages of the center towards Physical education and sports lessons were examined and a village-urban comparison was made. In the determination of the study group, the stratified purposive sampling method, which is one of the non-random sampling methods, was adopted. Within the scope of this sampling method, a study was carried out on secondary school students in Kars city center and villages connected to the center. This study was carried out using the instantaneous research method, which is one of the survey research types. The dependent variable in our study is attitudes towards physical education and sports lessons, independent variable, gender, school type, city center and rural area, being in the school team, class level, age groups, parental profession and education level. Data; Personal information form, physical education and sports lesson attitude scale and data from schools were collected and evaluated. SPSS statistical program was used in the analysis of the data, and the significance value was accepted as .05. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that the data were normally distributed and t-test was used for pairwise comparisons, Post-Hoc Tukey and One-Way Analysis of Variance were used for more than two comparisons. As a result of this study; When the students' gender, residence in the city center and rural area, having a disabled sibling, study room, parental status, mother's occupation, father's education level, school type and place of residence were evaluated, no significant differences were observed in the mean scores of attitudes towards Physical education and sports. Positive and significant differences were found in the mean scores of attitudes towards Physical education and sports in terms of being in the school team, gym status, grade levels, school type, school access, location of the school, father's occupation, mother's education level, school type and settlement.
