The relation between different organizational cultures and organizational communication: The case of Anadolu University

Prof. Dr Hasan ÇalışkanThis study focuses on the relation between different organizational cultures and organizationalcommunication. In the direction of this aim, institutions which carry different cultures,equipments and canals that are used in organizational communication, factors that negativelyeffect communication and levels of organizational communication are thoroughly compared.Firstly, to figure out the type of organizational culture of faculties at Anadolu University, an?organizational culture? scale applied to eight different faculties. Following the evaluation offindings, secondly, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Literature were determined to havedifferent organizational cultures. By the direction of this conclusion, an ?organizationalcommunication? scale was applied in these two faculties.. Comparing the findings, therelation between the organizational communication and different organization cultures wastried to be displayed.According to the results gained by this research, Faculty of Literature and Faculty of Sciencewhich carry different organizational cultures, when evaluated by the aspect of organizationalcommunication, show similarities in open and bare communication and also in dimensions ofcommunication with management. On the other hand, the communication channels,equipments, factors negatively effecting the communication flow, interpersonalcommunication, intersectional comunication, formal and informal communication and thefeeling of belonging display differences, and thus effects the communication system in theinstitutions.
