Özet (EN)
Our country has a position of having second highest potential of solar energy in Europe. However, Turkey is falling behind of many of European countries in terms using its potential. Nevertheless, due to the new regulations put in place in last years, benefiting from solar energy has begun to be chosen in Turkey as well, for producing electricity. That is why, today, Energy Ministry of Turkey encourages setting up Solar Power Plants and it is permitted to produce electricity up to 500kW without licence. The efficiency of PV structures used in photovoltaic Solar Power Plants are differing for each PV technology. However, solar power plants can be builded up from PV modules having different technologies considering establishment and operating costs and systemic compatibility. The most important factors that affect energy output of PVs are radiation and temperature. The data used in modelling of existing PV Technologies are obtained under laboratory conditions((1000 W/m2 radiation, 25oC temperature). However, outer environmental conditions are considerably varying in solar power plants. Accordingly, both factors must be evaluated to calculate an energy output of a solar power plant. The annual energy production of solar power plants must be predicted. To do so, PV, outer environmental conditions and PV structures? tilt angle with horizontal axis must be known. The energy output of PV arrays are not dependent solely upon radiation. Additionaly, the response rate of each PV technology to temperature factor is different. In these circumstances, for appropriate positioning in a practice of solar power plant, optimum tilt angle of solar panels must be determined considering each factor (PV technology, radiation, temperature, etc). With this thesis, PV model of photovoltaic panels which are of different PV tecnologies(mono-crystal silicon, poly-crystal silicon and thin film) are created in Matlab/Simulink according to real outer environmental conditions and optimum tilt angle of each panel technology is determined for city of İstanbul considering radiation, temperature etc. variables.
