Effect of different remineralization agents on color stability and surface properties of teeth after vital bleaching

The aim of this study was to examine the effect of remineralization agents applied after vital whitening procedures on tooth color stability and surface properties. The crown part of 96 human incisors was used in our study. Home and Office type bleaching agents were applied to the samples that were initially divided into two groups, and they were divided into six subgroups, one of which was the control group, according to the post-bleaching remineralization agents. (n=8) After the bleaching procedure, no remineralization agent was applied to the control group, Gelato APF Gel, Remin Pro, Tooth Mousse, MI Paste Plus, Curodont Protect were applied to each of the other groups. Samples were kept in artificial saliva between sessions. Surface roughness is measured initially, after bleaching agents application, after remineralization agents application; the color measurement was also made at the beginning, after the bleaching agents application and after soaking in the staining solution. Contact type profilometer was used for surface roughness measurement and contact type dental spectrophotometer was used for color measurement; Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) examinations were carried out. One-way analysis of variance (one-way ANOVA) was used for the comparison of the data, and the post-hoc LSD test was used to compare the difference between groups. Paired Sample T Test was used to compare the roughness values after the procedures. Independent t-test was used in the comparison of two independent groups (the effect of home and office bleaching application on color and roughness). Statistical analysis was evaluated at 95% confidence interval and p <0.05 significance level. After office and home bleaching, surface roughness increased in all groups, and with the application of remineralization agent, the roughness decreased in all groups including the control group. Color change after office and home bleaching is similar (p> 0.05); surface roughness changes were found to be different (p <0.05). After the application of remineralization agent, the surface roughness and color change values of the groups were found to be statistically different (p <0.05).
